At Fezile Nosenga, we are committed to providing accurate, useful and trustworthy information about jobs, learnerships, internships, bursaries, skills development and career opportunities in South Africa.
Despite our efforts to verify information before publication, mistakes can occur. Information can also become outdated after publication when employers, SETAs, training providers or other organisations change their requirements or application processes.
This Corrections Policy explains how we identify, review and correct inaccurate or outdated information.
Our Approach to Corrections
When we become aware of a possible factual error, we aim to review the information and compare it with reliable or authoritative sources.
If we determine that information is materially incorrect, we will take reasonable steps to correct it.
We do not intentionally leave information online that we know to be materially false or misleading.
What May Require a Correction?
Corrections may be necessary when an article contains inaccurate information relating to:
- Job or programme titles
- Employer or organisation names
- Application requirements
- Required qualifications
- Experience requirements
- Closing dates
- Salary or stipend amounts
- Job locations
- Learnership or programme duration
- Application links
- Reference numbers
- Required documents
- Contact information
- Eligibility requirements
- Other important factual information
We may also correct spelling, grammar, formatting or wording where it affects clarity or creates an incorrect impression.
Corrections vs Updates
Not every change to an article means the original article contained an error.
Correction
A correction occurs when information published by us was inaccurate at the time it was published.
For example, if we publish an incorrect closing date and later discover that the source showed a different date, we may correct the article.
Update
An update occurs when information was accurate when published but circumstances later changed.
For example, an employer may extend a closing date after we publish an opportunity. Updating the article with the new closing date would normally be considered an update rather than a correction.
We may also update articles to add new information, improve explanations or provide additional guidance.
How We Verify Reported Errors
When a possible error is reported, we may review:
- The original source of the information
- Official employer websites
- Official SETA websites
- Government websites
- Official recruitment portals
- Educational institution websites
- Official announcements
- Verified organisational social media accounts
- Other reliable sources relevant to the claim
The appropriate verification method depends on the nature of the information being reviewed.
Significant Corrections
When an error could materially affect a reader’s decision or application, we treat it more seriously.
Examples may include:
- Publishing the wrong application link
- Publishing an incorrect closing date
- Incorrectly stating minimum qualifications
- Publishing an incorrect salary or stipend
- Incorrectly identifying an employer
- Presenting an expired opportunity as currently available
- Incorrectly claiming that an opportunity is officially affiliated with an organisation
Depending on the circumstances, we may correct the information, add clarification or remove the affected content.
Minor Corrections
Minor changes may be made without a formal correction notice.
These can include:
- Spelling mistakes
- Grammar corrections
- Formatting improvements
- Broken formatting
- Minor wording changes
- Improvements that do not change the meaning of the article
Our goal is to keep articles clear and useful without unnecessarily recording every minor editorial adjustment.
Updating Expired Opportunities
Jobs, learnerships, internships and bursaries often have limited application periods.
When an opportunity expires, we may:
- Mark it as closed or expired
- Update the article
- Remove outdated application instructions
- Redirect readers to newer relevant opportunities
- Archive the article
- Remove the article when retaining it would no longer be useful
We aim not to knowingly present a clearly expired opportunity as though applications are still open.
Readers should nevertheless check the official application source before applying.
Broken or Changed Application Links
External application links may stop working after publication.
This can happen when an employer closes applications, moves its recruitment portal or removes a vacancy.
When we identify a broken application link, we may attempt to locate the updated official destination.
If no reliable replacement is available, we may remove the link or inform readers that the application page is no longer available.
Removing Content
In some circumstances, correcting a few sentences may not be sufficient.
We may remove an article or substantial portions of an article when:
- The opportunity is confirmed to be fraudulent
- The information cannot be reasonably verified
- The content creates a significant risk of misleading readers
- An organisation has provided credible evidence that the information is materially incorrect
- The content was published in error
- Keeping the content available would no longer serve readers responsibly
Removal decisions are made according to the circumstances of each case.
Corrections Requested by Organisations
Employers, SETAs, training providers, educational institutions and other organisations mentioned on this website may contact us if they believe information about them is inaccurate.
We welcome legitimate correction requests.
However, a request to remove or change information does not automatically mean that we will do so.
We may first review the available evidence and determine whether a correction, clarification, update or removal is appropriate.
Reader Corrections
Readers are encouraged to tell us when they discover information that appears incorrect or outdated.
This is particularly helpful for time-sensitive information such as:
- Closing dates
- Application links
- Requirements
- Stipends
- Salaries
- Locations
- Programme availability
Reader reports help us identify changes that may have occurred after publication.
How to Report an Error
If you believe something published on Fezile Nosenga is inaccurate, please contact us through our Contact Us page.
Where possible, include:
- The title of the article
- A link to the affected article
- The information you believe is incorrect
- What you believe the correct information should be
- A link to an official or reliable source supporting the correction
Providing supporting information can help us investigate the issue more efficiently.
What Happens After a Correction Request?
When we receive a credible correction request, we may:
- Review the affected article.
- Check the original and current sources.
- Determine whether the information is incorrect, outdated or still accurate.
- Make an appropriate correction or update where necessary.
- Add clarification when additional context would help readers.
The time required to review a correction may depend on the complexity of the issue and the availability of reliable information.
Corrections and Article Dates
When an article receives a meaningful update or correction, its updated date may be changed to reflect the revision.
Minor spelling, grammar or formatting corrections may not result in a new updated date.
We do not intentionally change article dates simply to make old content appear newly published.
Transparency
For significant factual errors, we may include a correction or update note explaining what was changed when doing so would materially help readers understand the correction.
Minor editorial changes generally do not require a correction notice.
Editorial Independence
Correction decisions are based on accuracy and the interests of our readers.
Advertisers, sponsors or commercial partners do not have the right to require us to remove accurate editorial information merely because they dislike it.
Likewise, commercial relationships do not prevent us from correcting information that we discover is inaccurate.
Our Responsibility
While readers should always verify important application details with the organisation responsible for an opportunity, we recognise our responsibility for information published on this website.
Our goal is not to claim that mistakes will never happen.
Our commitment is to take reasonable steps to prevent errors, investigate credible reports and correct significant inaccuracies when they are identified.
